Be Transformed, Place Your Life Before God
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Do you have a life verse? That one verse that God gave you, the one that really speaks to your heart. Mine is Romans 12:1-2.
About ten years ago I was struggling with life. I had recently retired and my life changed dramatically. Everyone had the perfect idea about what I should do. Everyone except me!
I was reading a devotional and there it was!
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind!
What a concept. I was being overwhelmed by everyone around me and not listening to God.
I love the way these verses are translated in The Message.
Take your everyday, ordinary life and place it before God as an offering.
I never thought about that. I knew that my salvation was secure but what was I doing to serve God. He wanted my best, my all.
I needed some changes. I began to pray Romans 12:1-2 about my life. Where did He want me to serve? What was I supposed to do?
My direction for service began to change.
I began to mentor a woman in my church. The thing about mentoring, you are blessed as much as you are a blessing. Your outlook changes from an inward focus to an upward focus.
Putting your life in the hands of God is transforming. You will never be the same!
So I ask again, do you have a life verse?
